La Crosse Technology 308-1414B-INT Review
La Crosse Technology is a common and well-known brand that produces weather stations and sensors, and the 308-1414B-INT weather station is one of the company's best products.
This is a wireless weather station that reports precise and real-time values on its bright colored display. The weather forecasts are animated and easy to understand without much professional knowledge.
Trends are also displayed, which indicates the changes in various parameters. You can monitor the inner and outer values with settings to alert you of the highest and lowest measurements recorded each day.
You can access the minimum and maximum records as well as the historical data on the easy to read color display where you can alter the brightness levels.
You can also set alerts to receive notifications when any of the elements are in the preferred range limit so that you can make necessary adjustments. However, the unit may require 3 to 4 weeks for proper calibration.
La Crosse Technology 308-1414B-INT Features
This weather station has a wide wireless transmission range of over 330 feet, which makes for seamless and smooth transmission of data from the external sensors to the display.
However, despite the strong penetration power of the signal, a large number of obstacles in a course like walls, glass, trees, and bushes can reduce the effective range to some extend.
Installation is simple if you abide by the instruction manual carefully. As the device is weather-resistant and not weatherproof, it is susceptible to damage from heavy rainfall but is not affected by light precipitation.
This makes the best location for mounting the device on the northside of your home, preferably in a shaded and well-protected place away from direct sunlight and rainfall. A well-ventilated spot ensures that the accuracy of the weather station is maintained.
The station comes with much mounting hardware, and the display has a wall-mount and kickstand for easy placement on walls or a table.
The station has an atomic self-set time and date feature as well as an automatic resetting of daylight savings time each year, which can be disabled manually. It also recognizes seven time zones for effective time control.
The backlight is adjustable with a high, low, or off so you can tinker with it based on personal choice and the 12/24 hour time display provides custom alarm options with a 10-minute snooze feature.
Factory Reset Option
Factory reset can be achieved by removing both batteries and power cord and pressing any of the buttons on the weather station more than 20 times, then leave the display and sensors both without power for 15 minutes.
You can then put new batteries into the unit, attach the station to a power cord, and wait for 15 minutes until the connection is re-established between the sensor and display.
Display and Data Representation
The display has a constant backlight, which ensures the display is easy to read and visible even in the dark, dim, and low light conditions without straining the eyes.
The backlight is always switched on when connected to a 5V power cord. The display indicates the current as well as past records of temperature, humidity, pressure, and other parameters along with a weather forecast.
Automatic time and date updates are available at the station. You can get to know about the highest and lowest values of the day, shown on display.
Battery strength and reception strength are also shown on display. For seamless transmission, place the outdoor sensor within 300 feet from the main console.
Maintenance and Mounting Outdoor Sensors
You need to protect the remote sensor from sunlight, standing rain, or snow, which can cause inaccurate information recording.
You can mount it under a deck rail or place a small box above the sensor like a roof, but the box must have airflow vents.
Place the sensors on the north side to prevent the influence of sunlight. Refrain from placing near metal fences and place it 6 feet above the ground.
These remote sensors are water-resistant, so small amounts of rain don’t matter, but they are not waterproof.
La Crosse Technology is a name associated with performance and reliability, and this weather station is no different. Everything about the weather station is just excellent and effortless to use.
Its efficiency is second to none, and this weather station is definitely one of the better ones out there.
